My experience is that the majority of people compiling web2c
want window support.

I do, at any rate, and that's why the default is to have it :-)
Having a configure option like --without-x would be better than
having to edit web2c/lib/c-auto.h.in, though. If anyone would like
to implement that, that would be great. I'll put it on my list.
